Today was such a good day – it’s always nice around here the day after I meet a deadline (unless I have back-to-back deadlines, in which case it can get a bit nuts). I did a lot of relaxing, and it seems I’ve now gotten into a bit of a drawing habit. When I sit down, I’m just as likely to reach for my pen and sketchbook as I am for a good book or the latest magazine.
I know that all of this drawing is the result of signing up for the Big Draw. I also signed up for Art Every Day Month next month at Creative Every Day, so I might very well be making art every day by the end of the year too! Hey, maybe NaNoWriMo will work the same for the writing …
Dylan’s Day 7 Drawings
Dylan couldn’t decide between his two favorite drawings from today, so we’re posting both of them. First up is another drawing from life. He and Daddy went to Pizza Hut early last week for lunch, and he got a great cup with his apple juice that he brought home with him:
And here’s Dylan’s drawing of it:
Then he spotted my sketchbook, and decided he wanted to draw something in there, too. So he drew a playground. And then he decided to make it into a “find the letters” game, so he added all sorts of letters. Can you find them all?
Belle’s Day 7 Drawing
I’m still working with pen but it’s still more challenging than charcoal. I discovered today, though, that I can shade with pen by using dots and light lines, and that’s definitely been helpful. I might start liking the pen more!
I'd love to hear from you: Click here to add your thoughts!

Belle, your art is beautiful, you really are quite talented and I love Dylan’s find the letters drawing – I wonder where he gets his talent & creativity from?!
Love you, Bethie

Way to go Dylan! I can see some letters…I bet some are there that you hid too well for me to find though. I will have to come back and study this harder. Great drawing of your cup and playground.
Mom’s lily is good too don’t you agree? She is teaching me about using dots and shadows…I’ll have to try that in my next pen drawing!

I love Dylan’s pieces! I just found something Katie drew when she was two–it brought back memories, as she’s thirteen now! Time flies.
Love the lily–keep working with the pen. I also have enjoyed adding a grey brush pen to my drawings for shading. Another idea is to use non-waterproof ink, and go in with a wet brush afterwards to shade. I like your dots and lines, myself!

Dylan was pretty thrilled when I told him you all were able to find lots of letters
Thanks for the encouragement and love, everyone!

Dylan, you are os clever. I found a few of the letters too. and the lily is luscious. Pen and charcoal, yes such a different feel to them. But both interesting.
