Desert Mandala (AEDM)

This is my first completed “piece” for Art Every Day Month (AEDM). I enjoyed making this – it’s done with gel pens, and this new batch of gel pens flows very thick and inky; it almost feels like painting with pens! So I might actually try and complete one a day, instead of working on one throughout several days.

About five or six years ago, I actually filled up a little Italian paper blank book with these gel pen mandalas. I created one every day for about three or four months straight. It became almost a meditative experience, and in my quest for balance this month, doing something similar seems like the perfect thing for AEDM!

These gel pens sound intriguing, I might have to try it. Very nice mandala you did there. I came over from Leah’s links…

oh – great idea for AEM – mandalas! I’m getting so many good ideas by browsing through Leah’s AEM widget – I like it better than browsing through the list. Technology is quite wonderful. I LOVE the idea of doing mandalas as a meditation.

Thanks, everyone. Dipping back into mandalas is so much fun – I’m so glad I’m doing AEDM. I even had the thought, a few days ago, that maybe I should bow out because of all the deadlines, but then I thought – no! I NEED this!

Soulbrush, I think our souls must know each other :) We’re going whereever our fancy takes us.

And Dylan says hi! I’ll be posting more of his art, too, because he really enjoyed that!

who knew you could do such amazing things with a gel pen? the artwork looks amazing Belle. absolutely love it. plus, you’ve inspired me to get back into my artwork as well. i’m basically blocking out an hour each day to play in my large sketchbook. and it has been wonderful so far.

(please pardon my lack of proper capitalization; i’m feeling extraordinarily lazy today.)

I love the interplay of the colors you selected. I alos like the idea of mandelas… I’ve been meaning to do some and then never do. I need to remember that.
